Hand your race to someone else

When you stop organising, you can pass the race straight to whoever takes over. They don't need an account first, and they don't have to make one to say no — an invitation they ignore changes nothing at all.

Sending the invitation

  1. Open your race for editing and find the Organiser section.
  2. Click Hand this race on.
  3. Fill in their name and email address. The name is optional but worth adding — it's how the invitation greets them.
  4. Add a note if you like. It appears in the email and on the page they land on, so it's a good place for a sentence of context: who you are, why them.
  5. Click Send invitation.

The section then shows "Invitation pending" with their address and the date it runs out, alongside Resend and Cancel. Nothing has moved yet — you're still the organiser until they accept.

Several races at once

If you're handing over more than one race, don't send several invitations. Go to Admin → Transfers and click Hand races on: tick every race and send them in a single invitation, which the new organiser accepts once.

What they see

They get an email asking whether they'd look after the race, listing it by name, with a link that's good for fourteen days. The link opens a page with three choices:

  • Yes, this is me — they take it on.
  • This isn't me — wrong address, so you should try another.
  • No thanks — right person, but they'd rather not.

Either refusal tells you which it was, so you know whether to find a better address or a different person. You'll be emailed either way.

No account exists for them until they choose Yes, this is me. Up to that moment there's nothing to undo — cancel the invitation and it's as if you never sent it.

When they accept

Accepting signs them in, moves the race across and welcomes them with a prompt to set up a passkey — a fingerprint or face unlock rather than a password to forget. They can set a password instead, or skip and do it later from their account page.

From then on the race is theirs: it appears in their Admin list, and no longer in yours. Site admins can put it back if something has gone wrong, so a mistake isn't permanent — but it's not something you can reverse yourself.

Keeping track

Admin → Transfers lists every invitation you've sent and where each one got to. Outstanding invitations show by default; the link at the top right shows the resolved ones too.

Resend issues a fresh link and stops the old one working — which is what you want if the first went astray. Withdraw cancels the invitation outright.
