Edit your race
Your race page has a public version and a working copy. You can change the working copy as often as you like — nothing you type appears on the public page until you press Publish. That means you can leave a half-finished edit and come back to it.
Finding the edit view
Sign in, then either open your race and click the pencil button in the header, or go to Admin (also linked at the foot of every page) and pick the race from the list. Both land you in the same place.
You'll know you're editing because the header turns red instead of teal.
The three stages
Along the top of the edit view are three tabs. You can jump between them freely:
- Race — the name, description, category, distance, climb and organiser contact details.
- Route — the line on the map and the checkpoints along it.
- Records & Results — course records, and each year the race has run.
Making a change
Edit the fields you want on the Race tab. The first paragraph of your description becomes the standfirst — the bold introduction at the top of the public page — so make it a sentence that stands on its own.
At the bottom of the page is a bar with the buttons. Save stays greyed out until you've actually changed something, so if it's grey your work is already saved.
- Preview — see the page as the public will see it, without publishing.
- Save — keep your changes to the working copy.
- Publish — copy the working copy to the public page.
If Publish isn't there
The Publish button only appears once the race has everything it needs. If something's missing, the footer tells you what: "To publish, add a description", and so on. A race needs three things:
- a name
- a description
- a route, or at least one checkpoint with a location on the map
Add the missing piece and the button appears. If you've just published and made no further change, the button goes away again — there's nothing new to publish.
Drawing the route
On the Route tab you can upload a GPX file from your watch or mapping software, or click Draw route on map to trace it by hand. While you're drawing, every other race's route is hidden so you can't click one by accident, and the Save and Cancel buttons sit in a bar at the bottom.
Uploaded routes are simplified automatically — a watch track with thousands of points becomes a few hundred, which keeps the map quick without visibly changing the line.
